Meddlesome Reflection
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Meddlesome Reflection is a narrative based point and click mystery game made in RenPy for the:
Spooktober 6th Annual Visual Novel Jam.
Plot:
Your boss has about 170,791 daily tasks to attend to, she's so busy she even started resurrecting the dead to help her.
You are one of those little helpers, one problem though there is a very strict law in the universe that: NOTHING EVER COMES BACK FROM DEATH.
To get around this hard rule, your boss wipes the memories of her corpsy workers, so they don't actually know who they are, only their...
Tasks:
Go to where she sends you and note down all death that has happened there.
Oh and it's short, about 17 minutes (timed by gut feeling).
Content warning: Gore on the level you see in the screenshots. Some bad language here and there as the main character gets scared.
Credits:
All of it was done in Notepad, Audacity and Krita. By me ATinyLittleCloud
A full credit list for all the tutorials and sound effects used are in a credit file in the gamedir.
Thank you Spooktober for letting a scrub like me take part and good luck to everyone!
Updated one final time, I'm done, I'm starting on my next thing:
Added sprites to all scenes.
Two more rooms and now the ending makes more sense.
Spelling errors and consistency fixing at all points.

the negative art with white lines on a black background is really atmospheric and creates a sense of dread even before going into the story, and the red accenting all of the death just makes it even more impactful
the descriptions of each of the deaths were very visceral, wonderfully written <33 (also petting the woman's head was way too funny oh my god)
it's a lil delight of a game <33
Wow such nice words for my little game, thank you. :D
nice game!!
the only critique I have for it is that there's no mystery for the player to solve (which is kinda sad for a game cantered around crime-scene investigation)
the art is surprisingly expressive for a first game? tho the black&white pallet made it harder to read things that aren't bloody
7.6/10
Thank you for the nice review mop! :)
I'm gonna polish this all the way up to the end of the month. Perhaps that could turn that 7.5 into a 7.6 :D
Say less ;)
Never done horror before... Never done anything, I learned a lot but, will I use it? It also exhausted me, writing kinetic is so much easier.
